Nicole Ari Parker is an American stage and film actress who is known for her role as the fiery attorney Teri Joseph in the Showtime show Soul Food. When she got married, she changed her name to Nikki Kodjoe. She was born and raised in Baltimore Maryland. When she was young, she demonstrated an aptitude for acting and was awarded the Best Actress Award in a Maryland High School Contest. After her experience in the theatre and with "The Washington Ballet Company" She was awarded an acting degree at the New York University. The Incredibly True Adventure of Two Girls in Love was a film that earned her a top-quality role. Films like Blue Streak and Boogie Nights Spark followed. The film was highly praised for her performance in Soul Food. Her appearances were in TV programs such as Second Time Around, and Empire. At the beginning of her career, she appeared in a variety of stage productions. Parker with a strong interest in politics she is currently married to actor/model Boris Kodjoe. They have two children.
The family was born in Mumbai, India and raised in Nigeria up to the age of seven, Contractor was well-informed about traveling around the globe and in a wide range of civilizations at an extremely young age. She was educated in the boarding school of London between 7 and 9 years. Then, the family moved away from London in Toronto, Canada. Contractor was a wonderful scholar in Toronto and trained to be an expert ballet dancer. She attended the Etobicoke School of the Arts. This is a specialized high-school for the arts, in which she didn't just study theater but danced as well. Contractor took the decision to study acting more seriously at the age 16 after almost 10 year of dance. She accepted a full-scholarship to pursue a degree at the University of Toronto after graduating. She earned a master's degree in theater and double majored in sociology and psychology. Contractor with a degree in sociology, having completed her university degree was invited to audition at an open call for Pericles, at the prestigious Stratford Shakespeare Festival, [Ontario Canadawhich she won the role. After the show ran for 92 times, she was rewarded with positive reviews. The play was deemed the best production in Canada by reviewers. The actress accepted an invitation to enroll in Stratford's conservatory, a program where only four men and eight females can attend the 20-week crash course of classical theater. Contractor got a confirmed spot for the following season. She was also offered the part as Hermia.
